Sometimes it is 'Suckish', 'Suckly' or just 'Sucks'. Whichever.

uh oh. this one is kind of a serious one.

you can tell it's serious because i'm not capitalizing the beginnings of my sentences or my "i"s, because i'm feeling lazy, tired and SERIOUS.
i don't really do "serious" on the internet. i feel like people do "serious" to get attention, for the most part. my blog is somewhat silly, or at least i intend it to be and i do like it that way, however while i am somewhat silly i am also somewhat serious. those of you who know me well know that this is true. that is because sometimes life is rather suckish or suckly or whatever you know what i mean and during those times that suck i become somewhat serious. this is how i think it happens:

every once in a while Life (which is capitalized to set it apart as a special place/thing, whichever one you like best) holds a big meeting and all the directors of Life look at me on their 400 plazma screens, each highlighting moments in my present life and the head hancho director of Life says to the others, "uh oh, looks like she's way too happy and is having too much fun again and we can't have that, hit the SUCK button" and then one of the henchmen (cause they have those) waddles (cause that's how they get around) over to a huge red button that says SUCK and they hit it really hard so that it clicks down and stays down. this sets off a big, or sometimes small, event in my life that makes my life suckish for a while, or for a little bit, but more commonly a while. then, once the directors of Life see that i have ceased my fun ways and i have learned my lesson(s), whatever it may be, the head hancho director of Life says to the others, "well that was suckish for her and i think she may have ceased her fun ways and learned her lesson(s), release the SUCK button" and then one of the henchmen (cause there are many henchmen and this is probably a different henchmen than before which is why i said henchMEN and not henchMAN) quickly waddles (cause they are happy to finally release me from my suckly time and therefore quicken their pace) over to the huge red SUCK button and they hit it really hard to release it to its starting up position. this makes it so that a big, or sometimes small, event in my life occurs making my life less suckish and returning me to my previously happy and fun state of living that has been lessened due to the humbling or sometimes crippling suckish time i have just experienced. eventually this humbled and sometimes crippled version of my happy and fun time will wear off and i will return to my previously way to happy and fun state and this entire process will repeat itself.

this happens and will continue to happen for my entire life until i am dead. whoa, that was direct and a bit morbid, but it's true. you'd think i'd learn and just stay in the state that makes the directors of Life most satisfied and therefore saving myself from the SUCK button. unfortunately i haven't figured out how to do that, and so the cycle continues.

so. i guess the reason i just spent a really long time typing this up is to say that right now, in my life, i feel like the SUCK button has been pushed and i am in that state of being where i'm suppose to be learning my lesson(s) whatever it may be. i may feel this way due to the stress of finals crushing me, or perhaps the stress of moving out of the dorm or maybe other stresses that i'm not going to whine about right now or maybe a stress i don't even recognize is there, i'm just not sure how to pinpoint the source. all i know is that i have finally recognized that i am not too happy or having too much fun due to stress and i need to bounce back so that one of the henchmen can receive the order to release the SUCK button.

and definitely the overlying reason for typing all this is because this is my blog. my thoughts and experiences get to be put on here and i have promised (due to my choice of blog title) to tell you about what it is like to live a day in my life. well here's the short answer that will destroy any justification for ever posting another post :
sometimes a day in my life is not all silly and jokey jokey and fun and crazy, which is definitely contrary to popular belief and the way i have written about my days at BYU on this here blog. sometimes it is suckish or suckly or just sucks. whichever.

and by the way, it's totally OK. this is just how life works and operates. if life didn't suck sometimes we would never learn about anything important. i can definitely say, without any doubt in my mind whatsoever, that i learn more about myself and things outside of myself when life sucks than when i am super happy and having way too much fun for my own good. and learning is important. duh.

SO. if you are having a suckly life moment right now, guess what! me too! and guess what else! it'll go away and you'll be happy again! the key to getting out of it is figuring out the lesson that needs to be learned and LEARNING THE SUCKA! you can do it. I CAN DO IT. remember, the head hancho director of Life wants to release the SUCK button, but we have to show that we have learned our lesson.

fair enough? i think so.

Hasta Luego BYU ! ! !

Last week as a freshman.

I have to admit it's a relief to be done with my first year of college, but then I think of the next 3-4 years looming over me and that relief is gone pretty fast. This year feels like it has flown by, I still don't feel like I've been in Utah for 8 months, it still feels like I just got here! Oh, and I am so excited to live in an apartment this next fall/winter with Eliza!!

Not to mention I can't wait to move out of my prison cell here in PreMi land!! No more cinder block walls, no more community bathroom, no more visiting hours, no more Cannon Center, no more lobbies, and no more swiping my card just to get into my building!

ANYWAY . . .

Finals are this week! I've already taken Book of Mormon, so now I just have New Testament, Intro to Jazz, Geography, American Heritage, and Biology! I found out that my Jazz final is a take-home final and it's actually an essay, so there's hope that I can still pass this class!!

This week, besides doing finals, I really want to go outside and enjoy the sunshine! I don't care if it's hiking, swimming, running, I DON'T CARE! I just wanna do stuff outside! So, if you (the reader) have any ideas, let me know cause it's goin DOWN.

Thanks to Eliza I finally learned how to play Frisbee, and she tells me that I am not too bad! So if you (the reader) want to play Frisbee, let me know cause I really like it! Or if you have a softball and wanna play catch I LOVE playing catch, if you wanna go for a hike then LET'S DO IT! Don't even hesitate to call me up and schedule something cause I will say yes! Guaranteed! Till then I'll be sitting in my room, or Eliza's room, or in the library, and all I will be doing is studying. Ick.

Good luck on finals all you Cougs out thurr!

Everything's falling into place,

To-Do List for Summer:
[x] Get a job
[] Find somewhere to live
[] Buy a car

I'm pretty sure that most summer To-Do Lists look a lot like mine. So yea, I'm not very original, but at least I'm trying to figure my stuff out! As you can see I have only completed one of the items on my checklist, but honestly they have to be checked off in order, so my next goal is a cheap place to live!

I really want to stay in Utah for the summer (no offense Oroville . . . ) but I know there is no way that can happen unless I get a job. WELL . . . thanks to Laurel Anne and her madre I was able to apply at Vivint here in Provo, which is a company that sells home alarm systems. I applied for the same job as Laurel Anne, in Data Entry, had an interview on Friday and got the job yesterday! So I'm staying in Utah FOR SURE!

Now I gotta find somewhere to crash for the summer. I have a couple options, but I'll fill you in when I know for sure what I'm doing. For now, I saw a decent sized refrigerator box outside of my dorm that looks big enough to sleep in . . . =]

Yesterday was so much fun! Eliza and I slept in obscenely late and took our time getting ready, which is so so nice. It sucks when you have to rush when you're doing your hair, so I think I seriously spent an hour curling my hair. We hopped in our car (thanks Uncle Bruce) and went to the mall and shopped. Thank goodness Eliza and I have the same pace of shopping, which is fast and short. So we did do a lot, but we only shopped for about an hour and a half until we were burned out haha. Then we each got a Pretzel (oh my gosh . . . so good) and headed home to get ready for Disco Skating!!!

Let me just paint this picture in your mind.
Zebra patterned jeans, black V-neck, silver-sequined stretchy belt, snake-skin black leather jacket, white retro earrings, straight dark hair and a black bandanna!
Navy knee length socks, hot pink and white tights, royal blue mini shorts, purple tank top, white V-neck, neon orange sweatshirt, rainbow necklace and earrings, big curly hair and a hot pink headband!
Just add rollerblades to all that, and you have the most epic Disco Skating outfits EVER! I must say, Eliza and I were workin the 70s theme =]

So yea, this weekend was fun, but now it’s time to cram and study for finals next week! This weekend will NOT be fun, that I can promise, but it was will be worth it when I get good grades on my finals. Wish me luck . . .

I swear we're not fat . . . but we're well on our way . . .

Eliza Wilson and I eat out too much.
We ate out SIX TIMES THIS WEEK.

  1. Monday:   Mi Ranchito
    • Cause we went with Bruce and Sam after climbing
  2. Tuesday:   Denny's
    • Cause their Garden Salad is $2.99 and delicious
  3. Wednesday:   Denny's
    • To find Quenton a wife (which wasn't successful, but we're workin' on it)
  4. Thursday:   Denny's
    • Just to go for a third time in a row (and all we got was hot chocolate)
  5. Friday:   Winger's
    • Cause we wanted Sticky Fingers with Creamy Amazing Sauce
  6. Saturday:   IHOP
    • Cause we really really wanted to
Also this week I went to General Conference for the first time.
LEGIT!

And that's all for the week. Pretty chill.
And because this post was so boring I attached two links for your enjoyment.
Just click 'em for crapsake!
You're welcome.

Beckham is Old. What the heck.

I'm  not a fan of soccer.
If you know me, you know that I don't like soccer, I don't really try to understand soccer, it's not something I'm good at, and the rules are weird to me. BUT, this weekend when Eliza and I went to her house (again), Sam got us tickets to go to a REAL game in Salt Lake! Now I'll be honest, when he asked if I wanted to go I immediately looked at Eliza, cause if she wanted to go, I would go and if she didn't I would have gladly declined. But then he said they were playing the LA Galaxy, and DAVID BECKHAM plays for LA, so of course I jumped on the bandwagon  =]
And ya know what? Beckham is lookin' OLD! Bruce took a couple pictures and he looks so old! He's gotta be about 35 or 36 years old, but it's Beckham, he should look 35 or 36 years YOUNG! But oh well, it was still worth it!

WE WON 4-1, which was so awesome! It was super cold, so it was good that we won, or I would have been grumpy. But thanks to Bruce I'm starting to figure out how the whole soccer thing works. Then we went to eat Mexican food (of course, cause Bruce and Sam love their Mexican food) and then we went home for hot chocolate. Eliza and I were still pretty cold when we got home about 2 hours later!

Anywho, that was the major event of my weekend. I can't guarantee that I will go to another soccer game, but I bet those Wilsons could talk me into it. Who knows, maybe I'll start liking soccer . . . don't hold your breath or anything though.

What's Up With the Owls?

Yea I HATE owls, and this weekend I realized how scary the little buggers are. So, I found the silliest picture of owls that I could that doesn't make them look so freakin' scary, and I'm hoping that if I keep seeing them in this positive light that I won't be so scared of them.

Ok, I lied. I got bored and decided to create my own template for my blog, and the owls were the only picture that I liked AND tiled as a background without seeing the seams. I know, I should be studying instead.

Also a new addition to the blog is some more music on my playlist! This weekend when Eliza and I went to her house (again) we watched The Fourth Kind! Well, I watched it and she fell asleep AS USUAL. Anyways, so in honor of the freaky movie we watched I thought Katy Perry's new song "E.T." would be an appropriate tribute.

(GAH! FREAKING CREEPY OWL FROM THE MOVIE!)

I was just thinking that I guess most of my crazy adventures on here do NOT happen at BYU. Uh oh. Maybe I should change the title of the blog. Hmmmm, OH WELL.

My craziest adventure this weekend was at Eliza's house (again). I ditched my bestie (which was sad) and went with her older brothers, Bruce and Sam, to go rock climbing! On real rocks! Oh my gosh it was so scary, and I was SO SCARED, but of course I couldn't let Bruce and Sam see how freaked I was. I have too much pride =] My biggest fear (besides having all of my teeth fall out hahaha) is heights, but I wasn't about to let my fear get in the way of doing something as epic as rock climbing with Bruce and Sam! So I just did it. And it was crazy hard, but crazy fun too, and I want to go again! I felt bad, cause I think I slowed Bruce and Sam down, but they were super patient.

This weekend was pretty legit, but now I gotta start another week of school. Eliza keeps telling me how close summer is, but all I hear when she says that is "FINALS ARE COMING FOR YOU!" I have 4 midterms to do this week which is gunna suck, but then I'm home-free till finals.

And now, your reward for reading all of this stuff:

Peace and Blessings <3

Jellyfish. Big Ole Nasty Fish.

I have to give a shout-out to Julian Smith. You are a genius and I hope you are making a crap-load of money for your talents. If you don't know Julian (not that I know him personally, of course), you have not lived and you must see his stuff. LOVE IT.

This week is going to be epic for three reasons.

1). I am going to go to bed by midnight every night, which may seem super late to some, but that is EARLY compared to how late Eliza and I have been staying up being crazy. Every time we could go to sleep we think about it, and go "Nah. Let's just stay up." and then we're tired the next day. So I'm going to bed by midnight. Sweet mercy . . .

2). I am going to get a job. Or at least I am applying and praying that I will get a job. Wells Fargo, I am COMING for you.

3). Intramural Basketball Tournament starts! We are going to get that championship t-shirt or die trying, watch it happen. Go Team T!

And now I am going to whine about my Intro to Jazz class because this is my blog and I CAN. No, not Intro to Jazz like dancing, heck no. We're talking legitimate Jazz Music, oh and Bebop, Swing and Blues. When I signed up for the class I didn't need the class, I was only taking it because I did Jazz band in high school (try to contain your jealousy) and I think it's pretty cool.
Yea, well that was BEFORE I was DROWNING in homework, listening quizzes and documentary assignments about the history of every scrap of music ever played and listened to from the 1880s-1970s. In case you didn't know, that's a ton of music.
So yea, I'm not doing too good in that class, but I'm gunna try to pass, which is looking like a harder and harder goal to achieve as the reports and listening assignments rack up. Uh oh . . .

So there was my whining section.

Lastly, I don't know if any of you BYU Cougars have noticed, but it smells like Spring outside, YAY! When I walked outside the other day it smelled like a softball field and I started dreading running around the track, and then I remembered that I'm not in high school so I don't have to go to the track after class and run a bunch of 400 meter sprints. Yay college! And yay spring!

Peace and blessings =]
(here's the video so you understand why I just said that . . .)

love, austi
